Hot Home Tips
Feb 25, 2019, 18:55 PM
Meet Lindsey and Eric Bennett from HGTV’s Desert Flippers. They have been transforming outdated properties in Palm Springs, California for more than a decade. Originally from the Midwest, this property power couple started with nothing when they decided to move across the country in 2006 to pursue their dream of building a real estate empire. In just 10 short years, they have built their business together; selling real estate, originating loans, acquiring rental property and flipping over 100 homes!
Eric: "We wish every homeowner knew two things. One is basic home maintenance (replacing smoke alarm batteries, changing air filters, greasing door hinges, keeping cabinets dry..etc). The second thing would be proper insulation. Homes have a large carbon footprint and heating/AC are expensive items to the average home. There are many ways to seal up a home, decrease energy bills and help preserve the environment."
Q: Could you live in a tiny home?
A: "Lindsey and I could definitely live in a tiny home…without the kids. They could camp outside."
Q: What’s an easy DIY project homeowners can tackle to improve their space?
Eric: "One of the easiest home improvements projects someone can do is to paint something - an accent wall, entire room or even some unique furniture pieces. We have some pieces that we have painted dozens of time. They are unique pieces and we paint them to go with the color scheme of each room. It’s easy to do and it can punch up any room or bring some cohesion to a home."
